| Until I saw The
Usual Suspects, All That Jazz was my favorite film.
Each time I watch it, as soon as it ends, I just want to rewind it
and watch it again. Bob Fosse is an amazing director.
In this film, he takes an autobiographical, expressionistic look
at the life of a self-centered, hedonistic stage and film director
who must face his own mortality when he has a heart
attack.
The editing is incredible
(especially in the audition number at the beginning of the film),
the cinematography is beautiful, and the choreography of the dance
numbers is flawless. The art direction, film editing, score
and costume design all received Academy Awards. The
screenwriter, cinematographer, lead actor, director and the film
were also nominated (best film that year was Kramer
vs. Kramer). |
