When Batman was
released in 1989, I think I saw it about three times within a
month of its release date. What a dark telling of the Batman
story.
When Michael Keaton
was cast in the film, I was disappointed. I didn't think
that he was right for the role. Boy, was I wrong! He
portrayed just the right about of brooding and secretiveness,
balanced with the heroics and righteousness.
The score by Danny
Elfman is amazing and adds so much to the film. And what
can anyone say about Jack Nicholson's over-the-top performance of
the Joker? Who else can get away with saying simple lines
like, "What a day, what a day," and getting a huge
laugh.
